Independence Day for The Ride Journal
November 9th, 2009 |

Back in July, a few Mission Cycling riders did a ride and photoshoot for a piece in The Ride Journal. The piece will be in the new issue. Here are some outtakes:
We figured that since our ride and photos were going to take place on the 4th of July we’d take the opportunity to explore the concept of “independence” as it relates to riding a bike. And since The Ride Journal is an English magazine we also wanted to take the opportunity show off our amazingly diverse and uniquely Californian cycling landscape.
The actual ride went from Ritual to Four Corners, down to Muir Woods, up and over HWY 1 to Stinson, up Bolinas-Fairfax Rd, over the Seven Sisters and up to the top of Mount Tamalpais. Along the way we wrote down some ideas.
Big thanks to Larry Rosa for being crazy enough to shoot the photos from the back of John Velchamp’s motorcycle.

If you haven't yet, pick up a copy at Pushbike on 24th St. A bit pricy (about $15 I think) but totally worth it--great illustrations, photos, and stories from all different types of cyclists, printed on beautiful paper. Gawgeous. |
