Join Mission Cycling on
Thursday, May 13th (Bike to Work Day!) at about 830ish, at
The Roxie (on 16th Street). We're renting out the big auditorium and showing two very short films and a longer one. All three about bikes and all three are talkies!
The first short is a recap of the sold out, March 13th, 89 mile, "
Mad Marchness - San Francisco to Santa Cruz Ride". We made this ride our huckleberry. Kind of like when I punched Mike Pesick in the face in 5th grade for stealing my Capri Sun.
The second short is the "
Headlands Raiders Goodbye To The Headlands Ride." The day before the Marin Headlands was set to close for 6 or so months, Mission Cycling organized a morning and evening ride to say goodbye. We had donuts, champagne, held hands and hugged and were left with many memories to document in our feelings journals. Everyone was so brave.
The feature film is the story of the epic one day cycling race, Road To Roubaix
http://masterlinkfilms.com/.
"Road To Roubaix tells the stories of the riders, mechanics, fans and the brutal, unpredictable landscape that is the for Paris-Roubaix...the filmmakers bring you the Paris-Roubaix that most people never see." I copied that right from the website. A skill I honed in 10th grade when I copied Eric Remer's geometry homework. A squared plus B squared equals C squared, where C is the hypotenuse of a right triangle and A and B are the other two sides is true and is one way of expressing the Pythagorean Theorem. I still remember it. Who says copying doesn't get you anywhere?
There will also be a raffle with some great cycling prizes from our friends and sponsors at Bespoke as well as some other cycling related companies. There will also be adult beverages provided by our friends and sponsors over at The Monk's Kettle. We have a lot of friends.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to our Mission-based friends over at
At The Crossroads. They provide services to the homeless youth. So cool. I know. We're givers.
